I have been studying illustration for the past year. It’s something I would love to make a career of. I originally trained as a primary school teacher and after seven years of trying I finally realised that I’m really not suited to it. During this past year I have returned to what I love doing – painting and drawing. I now have three children of my own and a strong desire to show them that it’s worthwhile pursuing your dreams. Of course I’m in the very fortunate position of having a really hard working and loving husband who supports us all. Here’s a selection of some of the more traditional work I have done in the past year – still lives and portraits in pastels and paints. I’m most proud of the ‘African Woman’ portrait in black and white pastel, which was sold at the first exhibition I had ever entered. And the portrait of my sister because she loves it so much
